Green Thumb Sunday II

The herbs and vegetables we purchased at Home Depot last weekend are now safely planted in pots, though the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry gave them kind of a pummeling earlier in the week.  Now I just need to get them some plant food, as the potting soil we bought is rather mulch-y and lacks the proper 5-10-5 Nitrogen-Phosphorous-Potassium ratio.

herbs and cayenne

That’s the cayenne pepper in the back, which is flowering and has at least one little pepper starting.  The beefsteak tomato (not pictured) is also flowering, but I’m doubtful any fruit will be ripe before August.  These plants don’t get as much sun as I’d like, and there’s not much I can do about that short of taking a chainsaw to the trees that surround the house.  Probably not the best idea for someone with a two month lease.
